Tried a 2-minute enzyme mask on my own face, got red for 3 days

I left a gentle enzyme mask on for two minutes like the bottle said, but my skin turned bright red and stayed that way for three days. My usual peels handle fine, so I thought it would be no big deal. Anyone else have a reaction to something that's supposed to be 'mild'?

Same thing happened to me with a "gentle" lactic acid mask. I just went back to my old standby and avoided anything with fruit enzymes after that, your skin might be sensitive to a specific ingredient in that mask.

Hang on, wait. Three days of red skin from a two minute mask? That sounds rough, I get being red for a few hours but not that long. @shanes66 I'm with you on avoiding fruit enzymes, those things seem to hit some people harder than strong acids. My face also threw a fit over a supposedly gentle papaya mask once, stayed blotchy for a week.

@shanes66 honestly I think you just gave up too quick, three days of redness is barely a reaction and your skin was probably just purging or adjusting. Ngl @shanes66 if you can handle strong peels then this mask probably wasn't the problem, could have been something else in your routine that day.
