Walked past a day spa in Reno and saw an esthetician doing extractions with bare hands through the window
So I was in Reno last month visiting my sister and we walked past this little day spa on Virginia Street, and I stopped dead because I could see straight into the treatment room from the sidewalk. The esthetician was doing extractions on a client with no gloves on. Bare hands, squeezing away. I stood there maybe 30 seconds and just watched, which probably looked creepy, but I could not look away. I have been doing this eight years and gloves were drilled into me from day one, like it was never even a question. My sister had to pull me away because I was getting worked up about it. I get that some old school European facial techniques skip gloves for certain massage moves, but extractions on open pores with bare hands feels like a straight up bloodborne path risk. Now I am wondering if I am the weird one for being so strict, or if this is more common than I think. Has anyone here ever seen another esthetician work without gloves and did you say something or just keep walking?
