Chasing a loose shoe in a downpour, 40 minutes turned into 4 hours

Last Tuesday I got called out to a gelding at a farm outside Salem who kept throwing his right front shoe, and I figured it was a simple reset. Turns out the hoof wall was cracked all the way up to the coronet band, so I had to patch it with a glue-on shoe and wait for the adhesive to set while the rain never let up. Anyone else ever fight the clock AND the weather on a job that should've been a no-brainer, or is it just my luck?

You ever feel like the universe just picks a day to test your patience, or maybe just hates your truck specifically? I had a similar one where I pulled a hoof abscess in the middle of a sleet storm, and by the time I was done my fingers were so numb I couldn't feel the difference between clean and dirt. The best part is when the owner stands there with a giant umbrella, dry as a bone, asking if you need anything else. Yeah, a time machine. Or maybe a roof.
