Got talked into trying a new hoof knife from a guy at a trade show
Last month in Louisville I ran into this older farrier who swore up and down his $80 specialty hoof knife would save me time. I figured it was just marketing but I was in a rush so I bought one. Turned out the damn thing actually did cut cleaner and faster - has anyone else had a tool you wrote off end up being worth the money?

Better and faster" but I sharpened mine twice before giving up on it.

Haha yeah the "better and faster" claim is a joke honestly. I sharpened mine three times and it still couldn't cut through a tomato without squishing it. I swear knife companies just slap that on everything now without testing it. It's like they think we're all professional chefs who know how to hone a blade properly when really I'm just out here trying to chop an onion without crying. My $10 thrift store knife actually holds an edge better than this thing ever did. Sometimes I wonder if they even try their own products before selling them lol.

Different knives need different sharpening angles and @cora813 might have been working against that without knowing. I've had good results with that line after switching to a ceramic rod instead of a steel one, though the factory edge was definitely rough. Some people just get lucky with their batch but these knives do work well for everyday cooking if you take the time to figure them out.
