Nail clinching took me 2 hours on one shoe, what am I missing?
I've been shoeing for about 4 years now, mostly ranch horses, and I still struggle with clinching on hind feet. Last Tuesday I spent nearly 2 hours on a single rear shoe because the clinches kept pulling through or folding wrong. My buddy says it's my hammer angle or I'm not seating the nail head deep enough. Does anyone have a drill or a specific way they grip the clinch block that made it click for them?
