Picking up a trick from a ranch hand about heel support.

Now my shoe stays put through rough terrain rides.

Does the horse notice a difference when your foot isn't sliding around? Mine seems way less irritated when I'm not accidentally poking him every few steps.

Hey, that's a smart trick! Most people just buy expensive inserts, but learning from a ranch hand is way better. For instance, a stable heel lets you give leg cues without wobbling, which is huge on rocky paths. It also stops your foot from bouncing in the stirrup when you trot over roots. That kind of control can really keep both you and the horse safe. Old school knowledge beats fancy gear any day.

Wait, you were actually buying gel inserts for your boots? I thought that was just a joke people made about new riders. How much did you waste on those before trying the heel lock?

Logan's bit about old school knowledge beating fancy gear totally got me. I was always that guy buying the priciest gel inserts, thinking more money meant a better fix. But trying this heel lock thing was a game changer. My foot used to slide forward every time we trotted over a ditch, now it stays put. It's crazy how a simple piece of advice can work better than all that stuff I bought.
