TIL the old farrier in Tucson was right about pulling shoes before winter
Back in October a farrier named Roy out in Tucson told me to pull shoes off my mare before the wet season instead of leaving them on. I figured he was just old school and kept the shoes on because we had a show in November. She ended up with a bad abscess by December and I lost 3 weeks of work with her. Has anyone else had a horse do better barefoot through a wet winter, or was this just a fluke?
