A tailor in Savannah got me thinking about why my sketches never match the final dress
I showed my sketchbook to a tailor named Ruth at her shop on Broughton Street last month, and she pointed at 3 of my designs and said the seam lines I drew were impossible to sew without a dart I had erased. That made me go back through 6 months of work and realize I keep hiding fit problems behind pretty shading instead of planning where the seams go. How do you all handle the gap between the drawing and what a pattern can actually do?

Read on a sewing blog that sketching with the pattern pieces in mind helps a lot.
