Critique from a stranger at the fabric store made me ditch my go-to pattern after 5 years
She said the wrap dress I always made looked frumpy on my frame and suggested trying a fit-and-flare instead, now I want to know if anyone else has had a random comment totally shift their design approach?

Oh man, that must have stung a bit at first, right? It's wild how one offhand comment from a total stranger can make you second-guess something you've loved for years. I've definitely had moments where someone's blunt observation actually made me see my own projects in a whole new light, even when I didn't want to admit they had a point. It's kind of brave of you to actually take that advice and try something different, though. I bet the fit-and-flare will be a fun change, and who knows, it might even become your next go-to.

Reading that post about sewing pattern advice made me think of something I saw on a crafting blog the other day. Apparently, those old 1950s pattern styles are making a huge comeback, especially the fit-and-flare you mentioned. @taylor.brooke, it's wild you brought that up because the blog was saying how a lot of sewists are swapping out the typical a-line for that more fitted bodice look. It must have been a little jarring at first, but honestly, trying a new shape can open up a whole world of possibilities you didn't see coming.
