Customer told me my stitching looked 'too mechanical'

That one comment from a vintage clothing buyer last spring made me ditch my industrial machine for hand stitching on all visible seams. I probably spend 15 extra minutes per piece now, but she was right about that lived-in look being worth it. Has anyone else had a customer critique that actually improved your work?

Kinda wild how one throwaway comment can totally shift your whole process. I had a guy once say my zipper pulls looked "too factory" and now I do all of them with waxed linen thread instead of nylon. What's the most surprising thing you've changed after a customer's feedback?

Three yards of waxed linen for one zipper pull?!

I once bought a roll of what was labeled as "waxed linen thread" and it turned out to be cotton with a waxy coating. Real linen thread comes from the flax plant and it's a lot stiffer and more prone to fraying when you cut it. Might be worth checking if what you're using is actually linen or just cotton pretending to be something fancier.
