Folded my bias tape wrong for 3 years until last Thursday
I was making a summer dress in Portland last week and kept fighting with my neckline curve. My mom watched me struggle and showed me I was folding my store-bought bias tape the stiff way instead of stretching it around the curve. Has anyone else found a simple sewing trick that took you way too long to figure out?

Heard someone on a sewing podcast say they finally figured out pressing their bias tape in two stages - press the folds first, then press the curves as you go. That tip alone saved me from cutting into a project three times last month. Also picked up from a blog that running the tape through your fingers to warm it up helps it mold around necklines way better than fighting with it cold. Pretty sure that advice came from a dressmaker who specializes in wedding gowns, so she's probably handled miles of the stuff.

Starching the tape first changed everything for me.

Wait, are you starching the tape before you stick it or before you cut it? Trying to figure out which part actually makes the difference.
