Found out the average fashion designer owns 47 white t-shirts
I saw this stat in a Vogue article from 2022 and now I'm counting mine in the closet... I'm at 32, how many do you have hiding in your drawers?

My husband once asked me why I needed so many plain t-shirts and I told him they're like a security blanket but more practical. The real trick is finding ones that don't pill after three washes, which feels impossible these days. I've got about 20 in rotation but another 15 that are strictly for painting or sleeping because they've got stains or holes. The weird thing is I still buy new ones when I see a good sale even though I clearly don't need them. There's something comforting about knowing you've got a clean white shirt ready to go no matter what.

Oh totally, my friend Sarah has this drawer just stuffed with gray t-shirts and her boyfriend called it her "sad girl collection." She got SO defensive, told him they're her GO-TO for when she can't deal with picking an outfit.

The security blanket but more practical" line from @the_laura is so real it hurts. My drawer's full of faded blacks and grays for the exact same reason, and honestly it's kinda nice knowing there's zero pressure to match anything. Nothing wrong with a uniform that makes life easier, Sarah's boyfriend just doesn't get the comfort of grabbing something that always works.
