Got burned by a $120 fabric that looked amazing online but felt like sandpaper

I ordered this gorgeous silk blend from a site I found on Instagram. The color was perfect, that deep forest green I had been hunting for months. But when it showed up, the texture was rough and scratchy against my skin. I tried washing it with fabric softener but it didn't help at all. Ended up tossing the whole yardage in the trash after wasting a weekend on a test garment. Has anyone else had luck returning fabric they bought online when it doesn't feel right?

Wait, you actually tossed the whole thing in the trash? lol that kills me. I get being frustrated but damn, $120 just gone like that. @finley_smith is right though, most places won't take it back once you cut into it and you barely even touched it. I've learned the hard way that if a fabric feels off in a swatch or from a listing photo, it's usually way worse in person. Next time maybe try ordering a small swatch first before committing to a whole yardage, even if it delays the project. Sucks that Instagram ads are so hit or miss with fabric quality, huh?

Ugh that's the worst feeling when you spend that much and it turns out to be garbage right? I had the same thing happen with a denim I ordered that looked so soft in the photos but felt like actual cardboard when it arrived. I just ate the cost too because most places won't take back fabric once you cut into it.
