Had the worst design week of my whole career last month
I was working on this dress collection for a small boutique in Portland, and everything fell apart in like 4 days. First my pattern paper ran out and the only store that had more was 30 minutes away. Then my sewing machine needle broke while I was doing the final stitch on a silk blouse, leaving this huge pulled thread I had to fix by hand for 3 hours. The worst part was when I realized I measured the armholes wrong on 3 different tops, so they were all too tight and I had to recut the whole batch of fabric. I almost wanted to just throw the whole project in the trash. Has anyone else had a week where every single step went sideways like that?

Honestly though, isn't it a good thing when you catch mistakes early like the armholes? If you hadn't noticed until they were on the models you'd have been way more screwed, so sounds like the universe did you a favor with that timing.

Yeah it's kind of a blessing in disguise right? Much better to catch that stuff before anyone sees it.

Oh FOR SURE, but here's the thing nobody's mentioning - if this happened to a big brand, they'd probably just Photoshop the mistake and nobody would ever know! At least small creators are actually REAL about it and show the messy process. That transparency is worth more than any perfectly planned final product.
