Just realized my color combos were inspired by a 90s couch

Last week I was chatting with my aunt about design stuff and she pointed out that my latest fabric pairing looked exactly like her old floral sofa from '92. Ngl, I was a little embarrassed at first but then I thought about it more. She said that era had this boldness with mixing patterns that we kinda lost in modern fashion. It hit different because I realized a lot of my favorite pieces come from messing around with those old school palettes my grandma used. Anyone else find themselves pulling from weird vintage stuff without even noticing?

Started noticing the same thing with my own decor, turns out half of my living room is just a remix of diner booths from like 1986. It's funny how those patterns stick in your head without you even realizing they're shaping your taste.

That diner booth pattern thing is wild though, how specific is it for you? Like does it show up in just the colors or the actual shapes and lines of stuff too? Kinda curious if it's more of a subconscious thing or if you're actually hunting down old vinyl patterns.

Yeah, those patterns get in your head early. I read somewhere that most of what we think we like in decor was actually set before we turned ten, just from what we saw every day. Makes sense why half my kitchen looks like a diner from the 90s now.
