My sewing machine ate the fabric during a live stream in Austin last month

I was doing a demo on how to do French seams for a small online group from my little apartment. The bobbin tension went totally bonkers and the whole piece got sucked into the feed dogs. I just laughed it off and told them that's why you always keep extra fabric nearby. Anybody else have a machine fail at the worst possible time?

Machines always seem to know when you're on stage or on camera. It's like they save up their biggest meltdowns for the moment everyone's watching. Your bobbin picking that exact time feels like a law of nature almost.

Is it bad that I used to think this was all just bad luck or people exaggerating? But then I had my old sewing machine jam up three times in a row right when I was trying to show my niece how to use it, and I totally get it now. @sethm58 you're right, it really does feel like they save their biggest meltdowns for the worst possible moment (usually when someone is watching).

@sethm58 has got to be right about machines knowing when you're being watched.
