Overheard a kid at the mall call my favorite jacket 'grandpa chic'

I was grabbing coffee at the mall in Portland last week and walked past two teenagers. One pointed at my oversized corduroy blazer and said, 'That's some serious grandpa chic, I'm into it.' It was so funny and weirdly flattering! It made me think about how vintage styles get recycled and renamed by new generations. What's a 'dated' piece you've seen come back with a fresh new label?

My friend's mom's old fanny pack got called a "belt bag" and sold for like eighty bucks.

Seriously, I read an article about how thrift stores just rename old stuff to make it trendy. They called a basic windbreaker a "vintage anorak" and doubled the price. It's all just marketing to make our old junk seem cool again.

Wait, they said that in Portland?

Reminds me of my buddy who wore his dad's old bowling shirt to a bar. A girl came up and called it "retro sportswear core" and asked where he got it. He just said "my dad's closet, circa 1998." It's the same shirt he got teased for in high school, but with a new name it's cool again.
