Saw a guy in a Seattle coffee shop wearing a jacket with the seams on the outside

I was sketching at a cafe near Pike Place last week and this guy walks in with a denim jacket where all the seams were on the outside, like fully exposed and topstitched with bright orange thread. It looked intentional, not messed up. I asked him about it and he said he made it himself because he liked the 'industrial' look of the raw seam allowances. I've been making my own patterns for a year and never thought to just flip the construction like that. It made me start sketching tops with the darts and princess seams on the outside as a design feature. Has anyone else tried designing with the 'wrong' side out on purpose?

Oh man, that's a bold choice. I give him points for the DIY spirit, but all I can picture is that jacket catching on every door handle and shopping cart in a five mile radius. Hope he doesn't have a cat, or it'd be a total loss with all those loose threads to pull. Honestly, it sounds like a walking snag hazard disguised as high fashion.

My backpack straps unraveled in a week that way.

Love that idea for a statement piece. The snagging would drive me nuts though.
