Shoutout to the old tailor in Boston who changed my mind about fabric
I was working on a jacket design and got two yards of this fancy new tech fabric, plus some classic wool from a local shop. The wool cost about $80 more, but after trying to work with both, the difference was huge. The tech stuff looked cool but felt weird to cut and sew, while the wool just fell into place and held the shape I wanted. Has anyone else found that sometimes the old school materials just work better for certain pieces?

Remember my grandpa's old leather apron.

Used to think those old work aprons were just dirty rags. Seeing my uncle's worn leather one changed that. The burn marks tell stories, the pockets shaped by years of tools. That thing wasn't just gear, it was a record of his whole trade.

Funny how the best materials are often the ones that have already been tested by time. My dad's old canvas tent is like that, the fabric got softer and more waterproof with every trip. New ones just feel stiff and loud in comparison.
