Spent 2 hours trying to match a shade of olive green, turned out it was just my monitor settings
I was sketching a jacket with this specific olive green I saw on some mossy rocks during a job in Oregon, and I couldn't get the color right no matter what. After mixing paint for two hours, I realized my monitor had a blue tint messing with my eyes. Has anyone else had a digital tool throw off their fabric or color choices like that?

Wait, your monitor had a blue tint the whole time and you didn't notice until two hours in? That's wild, I've been there with color matching once before and it's maddening once you realize the screen was lying to you the whole time. Monitor calibration can really mess with fabric or paint choices, you're definitely not alone on that one.

So you grabbed a $20 calibration tool and it actually worked? What brand was that, because I've been burned by cheap calibrators before.

@michael803 you're right about the blue tint, but I actually think my issue was more about the brightness being cranked too high. I had it at 100% for two hours thinking I was matching colors correctly, but really I was just straining my eyes. Ended up grabbing a $20 calibration tool from Amazon last week and it made a world of difference. Your point about fabrics and paints is spot on though, that's exactly what I was dealing with.
