Spent $300 on a digital fabric printer and it's the best mistake I ever made.

I bought a basic Epson EcoTank and some special inks to try printing my own patterns at home. The first few yards were a mess, with colors bleeding and the fabric feeling stiff. After a lot of trial and error, I got the settings right for a cotton-linen blend, and now I can test a design for about $15 in materials instead of ordering a huge minimum. Has anyone else had a rough start with home fabric printing that actually paid off?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. My first few attempts were a total disaster, the ink just ran everywhere like a wet watercolor. I almost gave up and sold the printer. Sticking with it and learning the right fabric prep was a game changer. Now I can print a test swatch in an afternoon instead of waiting weeks for a sample. That feeling when it finally works is just the best.

Wait, you almost sold the printer? That's wild. Glad you stuck it out though.

So you're basically doing small batch fabric printing at home now? That's pretty cool. I tried something similar with sticker paper and a cheap laminator, and it was a whole mess of wrinkles and bubbles for weeks. The moment it finally worked, I felt like a genius who had just cracked the code to free shipping. It's that weird mix of frustration and victory that makes DIY stuff so addictive.
