Switched from sketches to draping on a mannequin, wow

I used to plan every piece as a flat drawing, but after a 3-hour session at a studio in Brooklyn, I saw how fabric falls and pulls completely differently. That one comparison made me realize the paper version was just guessing. Has anyone else made the jump and found it slower at first?

Three hours of poking fabric and I finally realized my sketches were just expensive doodles with good lighting.
