That $150 fabric I ruined with a bad iron setting
I bought this expensive Italian wool blend for a custom coat project and forgot to check the iron temperature before pressing the seam. The fabric melted and fused together in about 2 seconds flat, leaving a hard shiny patch I can't fix. Has anyone else had a fabric disaster that cost them more than they wanted to admit?

It melted and fused together in about 2 seconds flat" - sounds like you skipped testing a scrap first. Honestly, it's just fabric. Sucks, but you'll live.

Just a heads up, it's actually not that hard to salvage if you catch it fast enough. You can pick off the fused bits while it's still warm, or hit it with a little acetone on a rag to dissolve the synthetic melt without ruining the rest. Live and learn, right?
