Warning: spent $150 on patterned fabric that looked totally different in person

I ordered this cool geometric print online from a discount fabric site last month, thinking it'd be perfect for a summer dress. When it arrived, the colors were way off and the pattern was half the size it seemed on screen. Anyone else had a bad experience buying fabric without seeing it first?

Order a swatch first next time, learned that lesson myself.

the_cameron said it showed up as a different color, same thing happened to me with a supposed "deep teal" that turned out to be weird mint green. I started buying a cheap fat quarter or swatch first, even if it costs a few bucks more, it saves the $150 heartbreak. Now I also look up real customer photos on instagram to see how the fabric actually looks before I buy.

Oh totally, I got a fabric once that looked navy online but showed up as straight purple
