Changed my mind about skipping the home inspection to win a bidding war
Last spring I lost a house in Raleigh because I would not waive the inspection, and I was mad at myself for it. My old way of thinking was that in a hot market you have to drop every protection just to get your offer picked. Then a coworker told me about a friend who waived his and got hit with a $9,000 foundation repair a couple months after closing. That number stuck with me, and now I would rather lose ten houses than buy one blind. Did any of you waive the inspection and regret it, or hold firm and still get the house?

Watching people skip inspections to win bidding wars is the same energy as people who drive 90 on the freeway to save 5 minutes. You feel like you're winning right up until the thing you skipped blows up in your face. Saving a few hundred bucks or beating one other offer isn't worth a five figure surprise you can't undo after closing.
