My charming 1903 fixer-upper had a secret roommate - a family of raccoons in the attic
So I closed on this cute little house in Portland last month, all excited about the original hardwood floors and the stained glass window. Day three, I hear scratching above the bedroom at 2 AM. I thought it was pipes or maybe a mouse. Nope. I got a flashlight and crawled into the attic and found a whole nest of raccoons - a mom and three babies just staring at me like I was the intruder. Called a wildlife guy and he charged me $900 to evict them and seal up the hole they chewed through the soffit. What I learned: always get a roof and attic inspection before you sign, even if the place looks perfect from the street. Anyone else had surprise animals move in after closing?

Man, that $900 eviction fee is rough but honestly you got off easy - those little masked ninjas could've chewed through your wiring and started a fire. At least now you have a solid horror story to tell at every housewarming party for the next decade.

$900 is just the fee, you're forgetting the cost of replacing all that chewed up drywall behind the walls.

Yep and @martinez.paul is right about the fire risk, that's the real nightmare.
