Skipping the home inspection to win a bidding war in Fort Worth was the dumbest thing I've done
Everyone told me waving the inspection was the only way to get an offer accepted in this market, so I did it on a 1952 ranch house in Fort Worth back in March. Two weeks after closing, the water heater let go and flooded the hall closet, and the plumber found a cracked cast iron drain line under the slab. That came to $4,800 I did not plan for, plus another $900 for the water heater. My realtor kept saying it was the price of being competitive, but I would rather have lost that house and kept my savings. The seller knew about the slow drain and never said a word. Has anyone here won a bidding war without waving the inspection, and how did you pull it off?
