That $600 home inspection almost cost us the house

We spent $600 on a home inspection for a cute 3-bedroom in Austin, and the guy found knob and tube wiring in the attic. The seller refused to fix it or lower the price, so we walked away. Now we're out the inspection money and back to square one looking at places. Has anyone else had an inspection backfire like this?

Well now, I see it a little different. That $600 was the best money you ever spent if it kept you from buying a house with old knob and tube wiring. That stuff is a fire hazard and a nightmare to get insured or rewired properly. Walking away was the smart play, not a backfire. You dodged a bullet that could have cost you ten times that down the road.

@sandra_moore30 is right. That 600 bucks probably saved you a nightmare. Smart walk.

Did they at least give you a free flashlight for the $600?
