The Saturday our final walkthrough turned into a $2,300 surprise
We were closing on a little bungalow in Tucson last month, and the final walkthrough was supposed to take 20 minutes. The sellers had already moved out, so we figured it was just a formality. But when I opened the utility closet, there was a puddle spreading under the water heater, and the floorboard felt soft. Turns out the unit had been leaking for a couple days, and the sellers never said a word. Our inspector had checked it two weeks prior and it was fine, so this was totally fresh. We had to delay closing by 5 days so the sellers could pay for a new unit and the subfloor repair. It pushed our move-in date right into the week I had already taken off work. Has anyone else had a surprise pop up during the final walkthrough that almost killed the whole deal?
