Booked 5 jobs on Fiverr in one week after changing my profile picture to a dog photo

I swapped my boring headshot for a picture of my golden retriever wearing a tie, and suddenly my gig messages tripled. Did a dumb experiment for 2 weeks last month and the dog photo out-performed the human one by 40%. Anyone else try weird profile tricks like that?

Wait did you test if it was the dog or just a new photo?

Funny enough, my wife runs a small Etsy shop and she once switched her profile avatar to a cartoon cat holding a little sign that said "fast shipping." Her sales didn't really change, but she got a bunch of weird messages from people asking if she actually owned a cat that could write. A few folks even asked if the cat was her business partner. So maybe the pet photo draws people in for reasons that have nothing to do with trust or professionalism. It might just be that a dog in a tie makes people stop scrolling and click out of pure curiosity.

Huh, that's interesting. Did you keep everything else the exact same when you swapped photos? Like your gig description, pricing, and the actual services you were offering? Because if you changed anything else even a little, the dog might not be the real reason. It could've been your title or a new keyword you added. I'd want to see you run the dog photo against a different human photo, not just the same boring headshot, to really prove the effect. Otherwise it's just a fun coincidence, not a real test.
