Overheard a kid at Starbucks say Fiverr is 'old people stuff' now

Some teenager was telling his friend that nobody uses Fiverr anymore because AI can do everything, and I just sat there sipping my drink thinking about how I built my whole side hustle on there back in 2018. Has anyone else felt like the platform is dying or is it just me?

Noticed the same thing with my local coffee shop actually. They used to have a guy hand-paint their weekly specials board, really nice work. Last month they switched to a digital menu board that some AI tool generates. Looked fine but lost all that character. Feels like everything is heading that direction now, where the cheap and fast option eats the human touch until people realize they miss it. Your mileage may vary but I bet Fiverr will see a comeback eventually when folks get tired of cookie-cutter AI output.

I hit $2,000 on Fiverr in 2019 doing logo mockups and the kid is not totally wrong. A lot of the basic stuff people used to hire for, like writing or simple design, can be done by AI now. But Fiverr still has a place for stuff that needs a real human touch, like voiceovers or complex video editing. If you are just selling generic gigs that ChatGPT can spit out, yeah, you are going to feel the squeeze. The people I know who still make money there are offering services that require actual skill and back and forth with clients. You have to adapt or the platform will leave you behind, right?
