Spent 2 hours on a 3 minute 'quick fix' for a client's logo
Client on Fiverr wanted me to just 'tweak the colors' on their logo file. Turned out they sent me a flattened JPEG, so I had to rebuild the whole thing from scratch in Illustrator. Two hours of tracing shapes and matching fonts later, I finally got it done. They tipped me $5 and said it was easier than they thought. Has anyone else had clients hand you a garbage file and expect a magic wand?

Those JPGs are always a trap, even the $5 tip doesn't cover the headache of rebuilding those shapes.

Is it just me or does every single "quick trace" request always turn into a full day of fixing pixelated garbage? @quinn341 you hit the nail on the head, that $5 tip feels like a joke after you've spent two hours just trying to get the anchor points to snap right. I've learned to ask for the original file upfront now, but it's still a 50/50 shot they actually send it. The worst part is when they get mad you can't read the tiny text in the corner of the image... like sorry I'm not a mind reader. Honestly, I'd rather they just send a blurry photo of their screen than a "crisp" JPG that's been saved ten times.
