Unpopular take: Fiverr is better for building a real portfolio than Upwork ever was

I spent 2 years on Upwork chasing $15 writing gigs and got nowhere. Then I switched to Fiverr in March and listed my basic package at $20. Within 3 weeks I had 5 orders from buyers who actually gave detailed feedback. The platform takes 20% same as Upwork but I earned $340 my first month. Has anyone else found Fiverr easier for landing that first solid review?

That $340 first month on Fiverr, how many of those 5 orders actually turned into repeat clients for you?

Quit overthinking it, that's a solid start.

Kept in touch with all five of them after the job was done. Two ended up ordering again within the next couple months, one started sending me small projects every other month. The other two never came back, but I learned to follow up with a quick email offering a small discount on their next order. That little nudge made a big difference.
