Wasted $45 on a Fiverr gig that was just copy-pasted from Google...

I needed a logo real quick so I paid a Fiverr seller $45 for a 'custom design'. They sent me something that looked fine at first, but I reverse image searched it and found the exact same vector on a free clip art site from 2019. I asked for a refund and they argued for 3 days before Fiverr stepped in. Has anyone else had a seller just fake it like that?

Four years ago I paid a local "designer" $200 for a logo and she literally traced a Nike swoosh and slapped my business name underneath it. So yeah, I feel your pain on the faking it thing. Did you end up getting your full refund or just a partial?

The thing is, $45 really isn't that much for a logo... like, you get what you pay for on those gig sites. I've seen people drop $500 on a proper branding package and still end up with clip art sometimes, so it's not just a budget thing. But yeah, the whole "custom design" thing on Fiverr is a joke... half of them are just using Canva templates or ripping stuff off Google Images like you found. If you want something that's actually yours, you gotta go through a portfolio site like Dribbble or ask a local designer friend.

Yeah but have you ever actually tried to find a local designer friend who doesn't charge like a thousand bucks just to talk? I swear every time I ask around it's either some college kid who's still learning or someone who's way out of my price range. Where's the middle ground at?
