Dropped $180 on a laser level and it paid for itself in one day
Was putting down LVP in this big open basement in Columbus and kept having to run string lines for the layout. After like the 5th time checking if my line was straight I finally caved and bought a cross line laser from Home Depot. Got the job done in half the time. Has anyone else had a tool purchase that just clicked for them?

Bought a $200 cordless nailer just to hang trim in my own house and told myself it was an investment in "future projects." Still sitting in the box three years later, so you're doing better than me.

It's funny how that works, you spend good money on a tool and suddenly it's like the universe lines up to give you projects that need it. I notice it with everything, not just tools. Like when I finally bought a good set of kitchen knives after years of dull ones, then I started cooking meals I actually wanted to eat. Or when I caved and got a quality air mattress for camping, suddenly I got invited on three trips that summer. The upfront cost feels awful in the moment, but the tool almost forces you to use it because you're trying to justify the price to yourself. It's like the commitment makes you more willing to put in the work. Margaret's nailer will earn its keep eventually, just needs the right excuse.
