I finally counted up how many miles of flooring I've installed in 20 years

Came out to 47 miles of material laid down and that's without counting the 8,000 square feet of tile I did for that church in Akron back in 2010, anyone else ever do the math on their career totals?

Respectfully, counting miles of flooring doesn't really matter. What matters is how many callbacks you didn't have to do.

I read something the other day from a guy who's been running his own crew for like 15 years. He said he tracked his callbacks one year and it was at 2% which somehow turned into him losing about 8 grand in extra labor and materials. That really stuck with me because nobody talks about what that quiet rework actually costs you. It's not just about the square footage you laid down, it's about whether you did it right the first time so you aren't driving back to fix something for free. Miles don't mean much if half your jobs have issues popping up down the road.

...and see I get what you're both saying but isn't that kind of a glass half empty way to look at it @iris_barnes87? Like yeah callbacks suck but the guy did 47 miles of flooring man that's a lot of material moved and a lot of customers happy enough to not call back. I feel like you can get so caught up in the 2% that you forget the 98% that went smooth. Not every job is a masterpiece but sometimes you just gotta tip your hat to the sheer volume of work someone put in over two decades.
