I was dead set against moisture meters until a $600 callback in Phoenix

I figured my nose and a straight edge were enough, but after ripping up a floor I'd laid 8 weeks prior that was buckling from a slab reading I swear came in dry, I finally bought one and now I won't touch a job without it, anyone else ever trust their gut over a tool and pay for it?

Cringed so hard reading this, man. Eight weeks of cure time and it still buckled? That slab had to be lying to you the whole time, probably read fine on the surface but trapped moisture underneath was just waiting to show its ugly face. I've been there with a $400 bill after a wood floor cupped in a basement that my calibrated eyeball swore was bone dry. Now I carry my meter like a security blanket, I check every damn pour twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon just to see if the numbers move.
