Is the glue-down method actually worth it on slab prep? I heard two contractors go at it today

I was picking up adhesive at the supply house this morning and overheard two guys arguing about a big commercial job. One said floating floors are the only way to go because glue-down takes too long and the prep kills your margin. The other said he has seen too many floating floors fail in high traffic retail spaces, and he refuses to install them there anymore. I have done both for years, and my gut says the prep work is 90% of the battle either way. Do you guys think the extra cost and time for glue-down is actually paying off, or are we just stuck in old habits because that is what the boss taught us?
