Shoutout to the $80 knee pads I bought on a whim
I was doing a big vinyl plank job in a Phoenix condo last month, and my old pads were shot. I grabbed a pair of the ProFlex ones at the supply house, thinking it was a waste. After two full days on concrete subfloor, my knees felt fine. I used to be sore for a week after a job like that. What other gear have you guys splurged on that actually made a big difference?

Ever read that old saying about a bad workman blaming his tools? I always thought it was a bit harsh, but man, good tools just make everything easier. I heard a contractor on a podcast talk about how he finally bought a really good dust extractor for his saws. He said it wasn't about the mess, but about being able to breathe clean air all day and not feeling wrecked. That stuck with me. Sometimes the expensive gear is just about saving your own body in the long run, like your knee pads.

Yeah, saving your body is the whole point. Murray.pat, the pain isn't just part of the job.

It's just kneeling, right? How much can a fancy strap and some foam really change? I've used the cheap ones from the big box store for years and figured the pain was just part of the job. Maybe there's something to it if you're on concrete all day though.
