Showerthought: nobody checks the subfloor moisture before laying LVP and it keeps biting us
Did a 600 sq ft basement job in Gary, Indiana in March and the slab read 8.5 percent on my meter, way over the limit for the glue down planks the homeowner picked. Told her we needed to wait or seal it and she looked at me like I made it up, then a guy from another crew laid it anyway with no test and every seam curled up within 6 weeks. I keep a moisture meter in the truck now and use it on every slab, it takes 2 minutes and saves the callback. How many of you actually test before you lay, and what number makes you walk away?
Man, 8.5 is nothing a couple coats of sealer won't fix, I've laid over wet slabs way worse than that and never had a callback. Testing is just two minutes of work that scares you out of jobs you could've taken.
