TIL that cheap 2-in-1 underlayment from the big box store can fail on a concrete slab
Pulled up a floating floor in a Phoenix rental last Tuesday and the underlayment was stuck to the slab like glue, turning into mush where moisture came up. Has anyone switched to a 6 mil vapor barrier plus separate foam for slabs, or do you just avoid the bargain stuff entirely?

Did the slab have a vapor barrier under it at all, or was it just bare concrete? Curious if the moisture was coming up through the slab itself or sneaking in from the edges. Also how old was that bargain underlayment before it turned to mush?
