Unpopular opinion: Letting my nephew handle the underlayment was a bad idea

My nephew wanted to learn flooring, so I let him roll out the underlayment. He got so excited that he taped himself to the floor with the seam tape, and I had to cut him free. What's the most absurd thing that's happened when you brought family onto a job site?

Feel that on a deep level. Had an uncle who insisted on helping with a deck demo once. Grabbed the circular saw before coffee and nearly took out the support post for the porch roof. Created a big safety hazard and set us back two days. Honestly makes your nephew and the seam tape look pretty tame in comparison. Family help always comes with a wild card.

Oh man, my friend let his dad help demo a kitchen once. The guy was so pumped to use a new rotary hammer that he accidentally took out a chunk of the load-bearing wall he wasn't supposed to touch. They had to stop everything and get a structural guy out there. My buddy still finds bits of drywall in his mini-fridge, and the repair bill was crazy.

My cousin’s kitchen reno had pink insulation fibers floating into every room for weeks. It’s wild how one wrong swing with a tool can turn a simple job into a huge, dusty money pit. Doesn’t it feel like home repairs always find a way to double in cost and mess?
