Can we talk about the new ceramic fiber blanket from Acme?
I've seen three guys this week not wearing a respirator while cutting it, which is a huge deal because that dust is no joke. Has anyone else had to remind their crew about this specific safety step lately?

Yeah, that's a big one. I've noticed a lot of guys think it's just like regular fiberglass, but the ceramic stuff is way worse for your lungs. Our site super has been handing out written warnings because just talking about it wasn't getting through.

Actually ceramic fiber is a type of fiberglass, just way more dangerous.

Wait, you guys get written warnings for that? I mean I used to just think it was all the same itchy stuff, but reading what kai839 said made me actually look it up. That ceramic fiber can get way deeper in your lungs and just stay there, right? It's wild how something that seems so similar can be so much worse. Maybe the warnings are harsh but if guys aren't listening, what else can they do?

Well that's something I hadn't thought about before. I have to admit I used to lump all insulation materials into the same category and figured itchy was just itchy. But reading what kai839 said and then looking into it more really opened my eyes. The fact that ceramic fibers are so much smaller and stay in your lungs instead of breaking down is a real game changer for how I think about safety gear now. It makes sense that companies are getting stricter, because that kind of damage just isn't worth the risk.
