Changed my mind about using water for green sand after a spill at the Erie plant
I was always team 'add water by feel' until last Tuesday when I overdid it and ruined a whole batch of molds at the Erie plant. A senior guy showed me how to use a moisture meter, and now I check it every time before mixing. Has anyone else switched to using a meter or do you still go by hand?

It's funny how that happens with so many things once you actually try them. Kind of like how I was totally against using a food thermometer for grilling, thought it was overkill, and now I can't cook a chicken breast without one. Moisture meters are just another tool that shows you what's really going on instead of guessing. Once you see the proof, it's hard to go back to the old way.

Oh man, I used to be totally against moisture meters. I thought they were just a gimmick or something for like fancy plant people. But then I got a cutting that looked perfectly fine on the surface, stuck the meter in, and it was bone dry. I was watering based on a schedule and completely missing what was actually happening. Yeah, I'm fully converted now too, it just makes so much more sense once you actually use one.
