Got called out for my sloppy flask cleaning at the old Detroit shop

My foreman saw my bench and said 'You're leaving a quarter inch of sand in every corner, that's why your castings have fins.' I started using a stiff wire brush on every single one, no shortcuts. Anyone else have a simple fix that solved a dumb problem?

My buddy in a machine shop kept getting parts sent back for burrs. Turns out his vise jaw screws were a hair loose, letting the workpiece shift just enough. He started checking them with a torque wrench every morning, problem vanished.

That little bit really matters?

Ever notice how a tiny bit of play can ruin a cut, @emma_lee22?

Wait, he actually torque-wrenches his vise jaws every single morning?
