I finally got our sand reclamation system to stop clogging every other day

For three months straight, we were pulling apart the main screen every Friday afternoon because it would jam with fines. Last week, I switched our binder ratio from 1.8% to 1.5% and added a longer mulling cycle, and we just finished a full week with zero downtime. Has anyone else found a sweet spot for their binder mix that cuts down on system headaches?

You dropped your binder ratio that much without causing casting defects? That's a huge change to make in one go.

Aaronw59 is worried about casting defects, but sometimes you gotta break a few molds to stop cleaning screens every Friday. Sounds like you found the right balance between binder and mulling time. Congrats on a full week without getting your hands dirty.

We cut binder by 15% and mulled for an extra minute.

Did you see any change in your sand's green strength after the longer mulling, or did the lower binder ratio balance it out?
