PSA: That new ladle with the pour spout on both sides is actually brilliant

Been using the same basic ladle for 10 years. Picked up a double spout one at a tool show in Cleveland last month for $35. Figured it was a gimmick. First time I poured off slag it cut my time in half. No more switching hands or twisting my wrist. Why did nobody tell me about these sooner? Anyone else find a simple tool swap that made a big difference?

You poured off slag with a kitchen ladle?

Kitchen ladle and a prayer, that's my motto." In my experience, a clean one works fine for small melts, just don't tell my wife where the discoloration came from.

Be careful with that, kitchen ladles often have plastic handles that melt way faster than you'd expect. I found out the hard way when the handle started smoking during a pour and I almost dropped everything. Get a cheap metal one from the thrift store, it's worth not having to explain burns to your wife.
