PSA: That 'simple' core washout on a 12-ton gear blank took me two full shifts.
Everyone said to just blast it with the lance, but the binder had cured weird in a cold spot. Anyone dealt with a silicate that sets up like concrete?

Had a core once that chipped out like glass.

Wait, are we talking a full on glass shatter or just some annoying little flakes? @wood.jana that sounds wild but maybe it was just a bad batch or something. I've seen cores get brittle but never like actual glass breaking. Gotta be a pretty rare thing to happen for real.
