The 2am forklift fork that bent my whole inspection routine
Was running a night shift at a shop outside Toledo when a guy ran a load of 6 inch gates into a support beam, snapped two tines clean off. Now I walk the bay checking for hairline cracks on every fork before shift start, takes 15 extra minutes but saved me from a worse callout. Anyone else added a visual check after a close call that caught something you missed?

Whoa, bent tines clean off? That's not a little ding, that's a full on forklift doing a gymnastics routine into a steel beam. I'm actually impressed nobody got hurt if that thing snapped like a twig. Adding a 15 minute walk around after that sounds less like paranoia and more like the only sane move left. I'd be checking every weld and seam twice after seeing that happen once, no question.
