Tried a cold ramming mix on a hot day, got a surprise in the pour

We had a 95 degree day in Toledo last week and the regular mix kept drying out too fast on me. So I grabbed a bag of cold set material we use for winter repairs and packed a small core with it just to see. That thing held its shape way better and the binder actually kicked in about 20 minutes sooner than usual. The surface finish on the cast part came out smoother too, which I did not expect. Has anyone else played around with swapping seasonal mixes based on the weather or am I just asking for trouble down the line?
